PSALM 91 LOVED & SECURE GODLY |
As I was reading the Bible I received as a gift I realized it contained even more treasure than I had previously noted. Each chapter of this A.W. Tozer King James Version Bible had a topic statement. - This morning I noticed the heading for the Psalm 91 1 chapter ─ "The Security of the Godly" Isn't that a beautiful promise? God will use all the tools within His hands ‐ which is everything ‐ to take care of those who are truly His. 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from thenoisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation. (Psalm 91) 1 To be truly His is to gladly walk in submission to His good and perfect will and all His ways which we learn from reading our Bibles and actively participating in a good, Bible believing church in fellowship with like‐minded believers. The Bible is full of so many promises for those who will love God with all their hearts and honor Him by choosing His Son Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. To fully submit requires growing in the understanding of what it means to give God our first and our best: time, talent and treasures. As we acknowledge that His way is best because He loves us and He knows all He can bring us more protection. It doesn’t mean life will always be easy ─ but it does mean when we walk in the fullness of God’s love and provision He will show us paths to take. Oh, the promises that await us if we do yield to Him! He will help us come to understand what “the security of the godly" with the blood of Jesus applied to all that pertains to us truly means as we pray in Jesus' name! That is the power for the promise – believing and trusting that Jesus’ blood, the Word of God and Jesus’ name are the highest form of love we can ever receive. Studying God’s promises, like Psalm 91 1 and Malachi 3 2, 3, helps us pray more pure and
intentional thoughts too. For we can do nothing in our own power 4 ‐ only Jesus can do it for us. 5 I heard one story recently that illustrates how knowing God’s Word and applying it in a time of difficulty can work. This person was in trouble but could only remember a small portion of Psalm 91 1 . In that moment of crisis they just prayed out loud “feathers, feathers, feathers”. Because God knows the intention of our hearts and what we think He knew this person who walked with God was referring to Psalm 91 1 verse 4: 4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. The crisis was abated as the person felt the immediate peace and presence of The Lord. They had received the protection promised and the peace that passes all understanding. 6 God is love 7 and He wants to guide us and help us.

Donna Turpin has seen her faith grow as the Lord carried her through many difficult experiences. In 2013 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through the nine months of analysis, chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy she continued to tell the doctors that God was healing her and he did. But The Lord made Donna aware that there were people she was to help build faith in along the journey.
Feeding her mind with positives of Christian messaging, songs, being in the Word, and keeping personal time with The Lord was foundational to win this battle for her body that had a corresponding battle for her mind. Through it all she learned to be content and truly say “it is well”. All glory to God. This photo is from her 60th birthday in 2014 cancer free with hair regrown. Donna has now been medically declared cancer free for over seven years thanks to the healing power of the name and blood of Jesus Christ. She and her husband Tom have enjoyed life in the country in the Midwest and exploring the beautiful state of North Carolina.
